andreas’ gift: east:mount:zine

over the last weeks we have been measuring and drawing the building 2a east mount street, e1, home of the whitechapel gift shop. At the same time we helped to set up the web-site for the shop.  http://thewhitechapelgiftshop.com, talked to planners consultants and suppliers and spread the word about the project around our network.

the gift shop and the development of the building are running in parallel and see public works take on two different relationships with the owners of the building. one as a client and the other as a collaborator. developing those two relationships alongside each other is unusual. In the spirit of the ‘gift’ - the collaboration introduces a non monetary value along side a monetary one.

on the computer and during production those boundaries blur.

the fanzine is a visual overlay of one month of close engagement with 2a east mount street.
3 copies exist. one for pilar and pele, one for the shop and one for public works.

the centre section of the zine consists of two:east:mount:wall:papers at the scale of 1:1000 and 1:2000 - if you like to use it for your wall, please make a copy, trim it, paste it and then pass on the original.
