2a east mount street

the artist in residence programme (the gift shop) operating from the shopfront at 2a east mount street was inspired by public works, architects for the redevelopment of the main residence behind the shop for the owners and shop keepers pilar and pele cortizo-burgess. 2a east mount street was built in 1883 as a sawmill and most recently was used as a pottery, shop and gallery in the 1990s. building work on the residence began in july 2009 and completed in february 2010. the space was reoorganized around an internal ‘courtyard’ comprising living quarters that could also accommodate one off cultural events in association with the ’shop’. click here to find out more about the recreation of 2a east mount street.
